Wed Jun 29 12:51pmWe are after a soup maker to work with a small group of our Young Vinnies on Tuesday 5th July. There is interschool on this day so if your child is not involved in this we’d love your help. This involves working with a small group and making the soup at lunch time in the Hall kitchen. The soup will then need to be delivered to the St Vincent de Paul Community Meals at St Joseph’s Church Hall at 5pm but we can help arrange delivery if you are unable to.

Safer Speed on our Roads – Council Survey
Mon Jun 20 03:42pmThe NPDC is conducting a speed review that is proposing a reduced speed outside the school to 30kph. The review is now out for public feedback and the link is below.
The more feedback received in support of this speed change may also increase our chances of an improved crossing area. Please support this to keep all our tamariki safe.

Wed Jun 01 01:45pmThe school quiz is a fantastic opportunity to connect with other parents within our St Pius X community. If you would like to attend the home and school committee will be putting together a table for new parents and other parents looking to join a table.
The event is on Friday the 1st of July, St Joseph’s Parish Hall, Devon St West. Doors open at 6.30pm and quiz starts at 7pm.
The cost is $20 per person. Strictly R18 event. There will be a licensed bar selling beer, wine and soft drinks from 6.30pm. We are not licensed for BYO.
If you are keen to join in the fun. Please register on the link sent out on Friday the 27th of May, make payment, and email the home and school committee (email below) your details and we will be in touch with your team’s details in the coming weeks.

School Bell Time Change
Tue May 31 10:16amAs from Tuesday 7th June we are changing the time of our morning tea break to better support the delivery of all our core curriculum areas. This will mean we will no longer have a munch crunch break, as our morning tea will be at the earlier time of 10.30am.
Our bell times will now be as follows:
8.55 am – 10.30 am Morning Session 1
10.30 am – 10.50 am MORNING TEA
11.20 am – 12.50 pm Morning Session 2
12.50 pm – 1.45 pm LUNCH
1.45 pm – 3.00 pm Afternoon Session
As you can see this will have no impact on the beginning and end of the day times as these remain the same.

In Aotearoa, Pink Shirt Day works to create schools, workplaces, communities and whānau where everyone feels safe, valued and respected.

Miniball & Basketball Draws
Thu May 05 04:46pmThe draws for miniball and basketball are now available in the notices section of the app. Please ensure you check the correct draw for the right team. The starting day for each team may vary, with the days and times for many teams change each week.
Year 0-2 Miniball and Year 3 & 4 Miniball – the draw is for the whole season.
Year 5 & 6 Basketball – a second draw will be put out later in the season once grading has been completed.
Miniball & Basketball Practice – Sunday 8th May
Wed May 04 04:05pmThere will be a combined miniball and basketball practice this Sunday from 11:00am-12:00pm for all Year 3-6 players who would like to attend.
This practice will be held at the New Plymouth Boys High School gym.
If any parents are available to assist, that would be much appreciated to help manage the number of players.

Mon May 02 05:31pmNetball begins this week for both Year 5 & 6 and Year 3 & 4 teams at the Waiwhakaiho Netball Courts.

– Games begin tomorrow: Tuesday 3rd May
– Netball uniforms will be handed out tomorrow to the teams
– There is a practice for both teams tomorrow at lunchtime: please bring your P.E. gear, sneakers and a drink bottle.
Year 3 & 4
– Games begin this Thursday 5th May
– Netball uniforms will be handed out on Wednesday
Please ensure that any uniform your child brings home to use for the season is looked after. Uniforms are just to be worn for games, please do not wear them at other times e.g. meal times. All uniforms need to be washed and promptly returned to school at the end of the season.

Miniball & Basketball Information
Fri Apr 29 01:01pmBasketball New Zealand requires everyone involved in basketball in 2022 to be registered to an association or a club. The New Plymouth Basketball Association asks everyone involved in the game – player, coach, manager, referee, volunteer – to please complete the BBNZ registration form using the link below.
All players are required to complete the form to be eligible to play miniball and basketball in Term 2 & 3. If you could please complete the registration by Wednesday 4th May.
As soon as the miniball and basketball draws are available, these will be sent out on the app.

Term 2 Hockey Information
Fri Apr 29 11:46amTaranaki Hockey have registered with a new online Platform called PlayHQ. This means that schools have to register and create teams online. Players also need to be individually registered through the platform.
Please click on the link below to create an account through PlayHQ and register your child. If you have more than one child playing hockey, you will need to register them each individually, but can use the same account.

Taranaki Badminton – School Holidays Junior Badminton

Junior Badminton on Wednesday 20th April and the following week on Wednesday 27th April. This will run from 5pm – 7pm.
New players are welcomed to give badminton a go with rackets, shuttles and other equipment provided.
Price: $5 per player.
