Update on accessible toilet building work

Mon Nov 14 10:04am

The work on the new accessible toilet, off the learning street, has been halted due to finding asbestos in the floor vinyl from the existing space.  The vinyl has not been disturbed in anyway, meaning there is no risk to anyone.

Work is to be carried out next weekend – Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 Nov.  Preparation for isolating the site will begin on Thursday 17th.  Students in Pukekura and Giuseppe Sarto will be accessing their rooms during the school day in a different way and will be storing their bags in an alternative place for a few days.  Teachers will be working to ensure this is very clear for all students.

If you have any questions regarding this, please do not hesitate to be in touch with me.

Building work at school

Mon Oct 17 07:47am

Morena – welcome back to Term 4.

During the holiday we have had some internal building work scheduled to provide us with an accessible bathroom space that meets compliance standards.  The work has not been completed to the planned timeframe due to a number of factors.  This does now mean that accessibility into the learning street area needs to be changed for the start of this term.

Can I please ask students and parents of students in Mission and Pukekura to use the double doors at the end of Pukekura classroom as your entry point, or alternatively through Mere classroom.  Can I also also that all Giuseppe Sarto students enter their classroom by the staffroom door.

Thank you for your patience and flexibility with these short term changes.  I will advise when we can return to our usual access.

The event is held at Peringa Park, Fitzroy. Students will have an opportunity to walk the course at 12pm and the first race will begin at 12:30pm. The races are in the following order: 9 year old girls, 9 year old boys. 10 year old girls, 10 year old boys. 11 year old girls, 11 year old boys.

Students who are attending need to come to school in their P.E. uniform – St Pius X sports top, black shorts/tights and sneakers. Please can students bring a change of clothes as the event will most likely go ahead, even if it is raining.

Sunday School Mass

Tue Sep 13 09:23am

This Sunday, 18th September at 9 am, is our school mass at St Joseph’s Church on Powderham St.

This is a special time to share Eucharist with your family and our Catholic community.  Through sharing these masses with our children, we are showing them that we support and love our faith.

I will be looking for volunteers to read prayers, carry the offertory etc.  If your child would like to be involved, please email me: anne@stpiusx.school.nz or get your child to come and see me.

We look forward to seeing all our school families at our mass.

This Friday, as part of our Church Religious Education Strand, the whole school will be attending mass at St Joseph’s Church on Powderham St.

We are asking that all children are dropped at the Hall behind St Joseph’s Church on Devon St, instead of being dropped off at school.  We are asking for this, as there may be cars leaving from the front of the church at the same time.

Children can be dropped with their school bag to the hall.  We will be catching buses back to school at 10.45 am.

Parents are welcome to come too.
